EU Allows Use of Traditional Expressions Just Until Stocks are Exhausted

The EU will not allow use of traditional expressions on wine imported to the EU after March 10, 2009. This ban applies to terms such as "Clos" and "Chateau" even if terms are on labels approved by TTB. Other banned terms are:
classic, cream, crusted/crusting, fine, late bottled vintage, noble, ruby, superior, sur lie, tawny, vintage,
vintage character
COMMISSION REGULATION (EC) No 113/2009 of 6 February 2009 concerning the use of certain traditional terms* on labels for wine imported from the United States
of America
Wine originating in the United States of America and imported into the Community before 10 March 2009 under the Agreement between the European Community and the United States of America on trade in wine, using terms permitted in accordance with Appendix I to the Protocol on wine labelling as referred to in Article 8(2) of that Agreement, may be held for sale and put into circulation until stocks are exhausted.

RÈGLEMENT (CE) No 113/2009 DE LA COMMISSION du 6 février 2009 relatif à l'utilisation de certaines mentions traditionnelles* sur les étiquettes de vin importé des États-Unis d'Amérique
Le vin originaire des États-Unis d'Amérique et importé vers la Communauté avant le 10 mars 2009 dans le cadre de l'accord entre la Communauté européenne et les États-Unis d'Amérique sur le commerce du vin, en utilisant les mentions autorisées conformément à l'appendice I du protocole relatif à l'étiquetage du vin visé à l'article 8, paragraphe 2, dudit accord, peut être détenu en vue de la vente et mis en circulation jusqu'à épuisement des stocks.

REGLAMENTO (CE) No 113/2009 DE LA COMISIÓN de 6 de febrero de 2009 relativo al uso de determinados términos tradicionales* en las etiquetas de los vinos importados de los Estados Unidos de América
Los vinos originarios de los Estados Unidos de América e importados en la Comunidad antes del 10 de marzo de 2009 al amparo del Acuerdo entre la Comunidad Europea y los Estados Unidos de América sobre el comercio de vinos, que utilicen los términos permitidos con arreglo al apéndice I del Protocolo sobre el etiquetado del vino, tal como se contempla en el artículo 8, apartado 2, de dicho Acuerdo, podrán ser guardados para su venta y puestos en circulación hasta el agotamiento de las existencias.
